On January 25, 2024, Manier & Herod attorney, Sam H. Poteet, Jr., received the Martin J. Andrews Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Surety and Fidelity Industries. The award was presented by the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee (FSLC) of the American Bar Association (ABA) at its largest event of the year, the Midyear Meeting in New Orleans. Mr. Poteet was honored in front of a packed house of attorneys and clients from across the country. The Martin J. Andrews Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Surety and Fidelity Industries is the highest honor given by the ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section’s Fidelity and Surety Law Committee and is considered the pinnacle of achievement for anyone practicing in fidelity or surety law.
Mr. Poteet has concentrated his practice on insurance law and fidelity and surety law for more than 35 years. A leader in the firm’s fidelity and surety practice group, Mr. Poteet represents insurance companies in complex insurance coverage and fidelity and surety matters across the globe. Mr. Poteet has also been a leader in the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) for many years, serving as FSLC Chair in 2011, TIPS Chair in 2017, and holding positions on TIPS Council and as the TIPS finance officer. Mr. Poteet is also a frequent speaker at the American Bar Association, the Fidelity Law Association, and the Southern Surety & Fidelity Claims Association.
