Manier & Herod attorneys had a strong presence at the Midwinter Conference hosted by the Fidelity and Surety Law Committee of the Torts, Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association, held at the Grand Hyatt in Nashville, Tennessee. The Midwinter Conference took place August 17-19, 2022, after originally being postponed in January 2022 due to COVID-19 concerns. The Midwinter Conference featured the conclusion of Jeffrey S. Price’s time as Chair of the FSLC, as he passed his gavel to the incoming Chair following a successful year that saw the return of in-person conferences. During his time as the FSLC Chair, Mr. Price organized the Fall Meeting in New York, New York, the Spring Meeting in Hilton Head, South Carolina, and the Midwinter Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
Melissa Jane Lee Co-Chaired the Construction Program at the Midwinter Conference on Thursday, August 18, 2022. The Construction Program featured panelists sharing insight on assembling the best “Document Toolkit” to avoid a default or claim, told from the perspective of the General Contractor recently awarded a prime contract. Justin D. Wear moderated a panel on Friday, August 19, 2022, titled “Litigating the Fidelity Claim: The Judicial/Neutral’s Perspective” and featuring Davidson County Chancellors Ellen Hobbs Lyle and Anne C. Martin and Nashville mediator Jim Kay. Scott C. Williams heavily promoted the Midwinter Conference through his “Surety News” reporting.
